IBS, Candida & Crohn's

Being more sensitive to something that everyone is starting to feel

In this page we will look at what unpleasant symptoms (like those termed IBS and Crohn's disease) are telling us about the bowel.

More importantly, there is information derived from this understanding that can help with the management and eventual eradication of the symptoms through actually addressing of the cause rather than the symptom itself.

We must start by addressing the whole person, not the disease

It is our hope that in doing so, we bring the person themselves to an understanding that they do not have a troublesome, failing body, but a highly tuned, sensitive supercomputer that is telling them something. something vital to their well-being

The Emotional Settings of IBS, Candida & Crohn's

Bowel Stricture

This aspect is usually only addressed at all because the emotional context of the bowel is acutely obvious with anyone who suffers from IBS & Crohn's. Otherwise, it is not generally acknowledged - much to our detriment.

Because of the nature of the bowel, it is highly susceptible to the stresses of the body.

This is true for each of the muscle structures in the body, but only the bowel contains no bone structures to limit the degrees of stress held therein, and also very few nerve endings that we are conscious of. As a result is can become very highly stressed without our knowledge.

However it is sensitive to the mental and emotional states of the mind, and will therefore accrue tension.

Bowel Stricture

It is well known amongst practitioners that the more 'highly-strung' the individual, the greator the tension held within the body. Through sufficient massage, it can be regularly eased, but only through a change in relationship to the world, can it be eradicated. That is because every time a phenomena stimulates a negative, retractive reaction in the mind, it does so in the body too.

These tensions build up in the muscle structure of the bowel and cause narrowing of the bowel way.

An emotional event can often trigger increased symptoms of IBS, Candida & Crohn's

While this is happening to some muscles, others are becoming less used, as they are reflexed to more apathetic attitudes, and therefore tend to thin out, due to their relative atrophy.

The bottom line for this process is a general inconsistency in the muscle tone and tension along the whole bowel wall

this is true of all of us, because we all have irregular emotional relationships with the world. Some things we like, other we dislike - often strongly, with a highly charged sense of emotion behind it - for some we have valid reasons, for other, we don't

The Pavlovian Effect of Eating on IBS, Candida & Crohn's

We, unlike other animals, have very successfully trained ourselves out of the habit of eating when we are hungry. Food plays many roles for us, and whether it is from a scarcity of food in our youth, the comforting effects of eating, or the shear indulgence of our senses, we tend to eat at every justifiable opportunity. This stresses the system.

Bowel Baloon

In short, we need far more food than the body does.

Due to the aforementioned inconsistency in the bowel wall, this continuous eating puts great pressure upon the bowel muscles that are thinning. Made worse by the bottle-neck effect of the now constricting muscles.

Those weaker muscles are then likely to balloon out and form pockets of their own. The older understandings of this phenomenon indicate the space created inside as being a perfect place to lay down numerous layers of aging, toxic material, much loved by pathogenic bacteria, and causing further toxicity and weakening of the bowel walls.

Floral Mutiny in IBS, Candida & Crohn's

It is in these pockets that bacterial balance becomes harder to control. Old material building up enable bacterial activity to go unchecked, and the regulatory organs (Pyer's Patches) in those pockets become over worked and under funded, thus the over-growth of bacterium such Candida is inevitable.

As this fermentation (proliferation of the bacteria overgrowing) gives off greater amounts of its metabolic wastes they build up against the bowel wall causing further damage. The wall defends itself by ulcerating (pushing the offending material away as a last effort), but the abrasive nature of food and the outpouring of toxic matter from the bacteria are to consistent, and the ulceration bursts, revealing the soft tissues of the bowel wall. Never designed to come into contact with the digestive juices in the intestines, their nerve endings start to sing, and we have the discomfort associated with Crohn's and IBS in their various forms.

The Problem Is The Solution

Vital to the healthy function of the whole body is the processing of food. This is covered in more detail in the pages that look at digestion.

Let's look more closely at what happens when we are repeatedly trying to digest foods that would otherwise tend to ferment.

It needs to be understood here that digestion is performed not primarily by the nature of the stomach and intestines, but by the bacteria that live there. Without them, we not only do not digest food, but we quickly die of the overgrowing of other bacteria that they compete in our systems. If we are not of our own bacteria full already, then we would quickly fill with others.

Digestion is the proliferation of good bacteria in the system, and their byproducts are our nutrients. When other bacteria are in their breaking up the food, we call it fermentation, and we do not get nutrients, but toxins from that process.

The food that we eat determines what bacteria we are full of, and what they are giving us back.

When a meal generates lots of other bacteria and their wastes, our body defends against this process. But it can only do so for so long before it gets exhausted. That is when we run into the problems characterized by IBS and Crohn's.

When a meal that ferments is eaten, the symptoms of IBS, Candida & Crohn's increase

Today, we endlessly eat foods that we know are nothing to do with nutrition. They bare no resemblance to the foods we were designed to eat through evolution, and yet we expect this to have no effect. For our bodies to just cope. Well, they can, for a long, long time, but in a growing number of us, we have used up this battery of vitality and robust healthy abundance, and we are having to start listening to the body's cries for support

These problems are not inherent in the body, but in the food choices we are making

Fruits & Leaves Are The Root Cure For IBS, Candida & Crohn's

We all know that we 'should' be eating natural, life-full foods, exercising daily and drinking lots of water, but who can do so?

The beauty of what we teach on retreat is not a longer list of 'should's' to be followed for a while and then thrown away because we cannot live up to such high ideals, but a thorough understanding of why we make the choices we make, without blame, guilt or indignity.

It is our true belief that we 'should' be making the choices that we are making. Because they fulfill a genuine need in us for something.

Is it comfort foods we are choosing, cheap foods, foods we just like for some childhood reason, possibly they are even a real call from the body for a nutrient that wa have obtained in that food in the past. Let's look at them and see.

Perhaps then we can see that there may be other choices readily available to us that would still fulfill that need, but would work better for the body.

Then we haven't sacrificed anything. we are still satisfied. There is not 'should' if we are doing the 'right' thing because we want to.

The Detox Retreat For IBS, Candida & Crohn's

During our detox retreats, there is specific space, time and practices laid down to approach each of these angles.

We approach the physiology of these conditions with the fasting - the best way of relaxing the bowel - and body.

The Colonics are fantastic at removing any old matter from the bowel wall that is offending the lining and causing the nerves to sing.

The offending bacteria itself is mostly washed away eradicating most of the Candida Albicans from the bowel. During the daily nutritional talks, much time is devoted to helping people understand the importance of generating friendly bacteria. At the end of the week different methods of reinhabitation are outlined.

The psychological aspects will have had their chance to be aired in the setting of either private consultations with our crew, or less direct interactions within the group setting.
